Resident Camp 2012
A Girl Scout Summer!
A magical world of adventure awaits you at Summer Camp 2012. Girl Scouts Louisiana East Resident Camp is a unique place full of laughter, friendships, new discoveries, and memories for a lifetime. As a camper you will participate in fun activities that vary based on your session selection. Activities may include swimming, horseback riding, archery, Frisbee golf, building a raft, cooking in a box, investigating a mystery or taking a moonlit scavenger hunt.
As a council, our goal at camp is to provide an environment for girls to flourish by gaining new skills, building a sense of independence, actively engaging in camp community life, and appreciating the environment. She will return from camp knowing she is a capable, confident, strong Girl Scout. Chances are she will also be singing a lot of new silly songs on the ride home.

Girls Entering the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Grade
FUN DAYS
New! Join our festival of fun and celebrate the summer! In this exciting four-day program, you will choose the camp activities you want to participate in. Get creative in art time, splash in the pool, learn some new dance moves, take a nature hike, or even make gourmet goodies over a campfire. Try a little bit of everything and experience what camp is all about! Your new friends are waiting for you at Marydale. This session is four days and three nights, Sunday–Wednesday afternoon. (No horseback rides)

EAGER BEAVERS
Camp in a flash! This super-short session is just the thing for new campers. You will 
spend 2 nights/ 3 days exploring the best of Camp Marydale. You and your new friends will play games, sing songs, take hikes, and make s'mores. (No horseback rides)

LOVE, HUG & PAINT
New! It's a summer of fun and adventure! In this session, you will get a real taste of camp life. Paint a horse, sing songs, do arts and crafts, make new friends and lifelong memories. You will sleep in the same building as your counselors. Come join us at Marydale for a week of fun. Girls will enjoy a ponyride.

DYNAMIC DUOS
New! Grab your sister, cousin or best friend (even if she is in a different grade) and explore camp together. Two by two, you will make a lifetime of memories at Whispering Pines-swimming, boating, hiking, singing and exploring. You will sleep in the cabin with your buddy. Open 2-6 graders only.

PONY TAILS
Grab the reins and hop in the saddle for a Western riding bonanza! During extended daily riding lessons, learn the fundamentals of this riding style including the correct sitting position at the halt and walk and how to ride in an arena without a lead line. Then progress to controlling your horse at the walk and jog. Learn to groom and saddle and take a trail ride, too.

MISCHIEF MANAGED
New! Riddles, mysteries and clues, oh my! It's a fun-filled week of solving exciting challenges and obstacles. Stump your teammates when you create your own secret camp map and send them on a giant scavenger hunt with clues and codes they have to solve. Spend extra time on the challenge course. Even build a life-size board game to play in the field. (No horseback rides)

IRON CHEF
New! Are you an outdoor cook-in-training? You will learn to cook on coals, over a fire, in a box, on a stick and in a hole. This session will include an Iron Chef cooking competition at the end of the week with a secret mystery ingredient. Swimming, hiking, songs, crafts, and games will round out a week of new friendships and lasting memories at Whispering Pines.

SUMMER SLEUTHS
It's an outrageous session-long "who-dunit" mystery. Are you ready for a challenge? With your fellow sleuths you'll find clues to solve a case. if you can. Spend time each day working with your team to solve problems, riddles and mysteries. Spend a day learning the tricks of the trade from a real life investigator. (No horseback riding)

GALLOPING GOURMETS
New! From saddles to saucepans, this program has it all! Learn to ride a horse and get creative with outdoor cooking, too. At the stables, focus on mounting, dismounting, turning, and controlling your horse at a walk, then hit the trail to practice your skills. After the ride, it's time for some cookin' fun! Have a breakfast cookout, get creative with tin can or dutch oven meals, make dinner in a box oven, or whip up chocolate fondue over the campfire. Finish the day with gourmet s'mores!

A PIRATE’S LIFE FOR ME!
New! Arrrr Mateys! Try your hand at boating, walking the plank and swashbuckling for the full pirate training. Challenge other boats to a water balloon fight and see if you can outmaneuver your buddies on the water. By the end the week, you will have designed, built and launched a pirate's raft.

Catch the moonlight and explore Whispering Pines! Ready to take your leadership skills to the next level? Spend 10 days at camp learning the ropes to become an awesome camp counselor. You will have training and learn how to lead activities and teach songs to younger campers. Shadowing a counselor and assisting with a unit will round out your stay.
