Open to all girls, grades K - 12, who are registered by October 1, 2017 for the 2018 membership year

Calling every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ to join us for our Believe in G.I.R.L. event on Saturday, October 21, at University of New Orleans. The BIG event is open to all girls, grades K - 12, registered for the 2018 membership year. Fee to attend is $4 per girl, and includes patch. Adults are free. 

A kick off to the year with hands-on activities and presentations showcasing organizations which foster and encourage Girl Scout involvement and education throughout the year, focusing on Girl Scout Initiatives such as STEM, Life Skills, Entrepreneurship, the Outdoors, the Arts, and more. 

Girls will meet role models, explore career options, and have fun. Collaborators include: Aveda Institute New Orleans, Electric Girls, First Robotics, GSLE Wranglers, Herman-Grima Gallier Houses, Longue Vue House and Gardens, NASA, National Park Service, NOLA Code, Ochsner Medical Center Northshore, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, and many more!

We are excited to annouce the keynote speaker, K. Renee Horton, Ph.D., Space Launch System (SLS) Lead Metallic/Weld Engineer in the NASA Residential Management Office at Michoud Assembly Facility. Dr. K. Renee Horton is a lifelong lover of science and NASA who received her B.S. of Electrical Engineering with a minor in Math and a Ph.D. in Material Science concentrating  in Physics, becoming the first African American to graduate from the University of Alabama in 2011. 

This year's BIG Event Service Project will be a donation drive for our local Women and Children Shelters! Wish list items can be found here.
