Adult and Pediatric First Aid / CPR / AED Blended Learning
Required for: All registered Girl Scout adults needing certification as a Level 1 First Aider.
Girl Scout Troops participating in a day outing need to have a Level 1 First Aider. The certification to become a Level 1 First Aider consists of online content and assessments as well as hands-on skill practice performing first aid, CPR, and AED skills for adults, children and infants. Other emergency situations, such as choking, stroke, and breathing difficulties are also covered. Participants must complete the online content and assessments successfully prior to attending the skills session to receive certification.
To ensure more volunteers have access to health and safety training, Girl Scouts and the American Red Cross have formed a national partnership. All of our First Aid and CPR courses will now include AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training as well. If you are already certified, please be assured Girl Scouts recognizes both American Heart and American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications. Both agencies provide certification that is valid for (2) years from the date of the course.
Note: Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors cannot serve as First Aiders for a troop. The following healthcare providers may serve as Level 1 or 2 First Aiders and are exempt from taking the course: physician, physician’s assistant, nurse practitioner, registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, paramedic, military medic, and emergency medical technician.
Fee: $40 per person which includes all materials and certification. Fee is fully reimbursable from troop funds.
