Over 160 Girl Scout friends and supporters gathered for the council’s first Juliette Gordon Low Leadership Luncheon and Champagne Reception at the Audubon Tea Room in New Orleans on Halloween. The council recognized five outstanding individuals and entities for exemplifying the legacy of Girl Scouts of the USA’s founder, Juliette Low, on the anniversary of her birthday.
The council recognized the following individuals and entities for exemplifying her legacy: Dr. Cynthia Thomas, President of Dominican High School; Outstanding Woman Award; Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser, Outstanding Man Award; Sandra Holub of the Albemarle Foundation, Outstanding Business/Foundation Award; Dr. Michelle Sanchez and Dr. Donata Henry of Girls In STEM (GIST) at Tulane University,Outstanding Business/ Educators Award; Margie Loud Zeno, Minnie Finley Award.
“I am honored to receive the Outstanding Man Award along with my fellow award recipients standing here today,” said Nungesser. “It is important that we are a positive representation of what it means to contribute to our communities, and we must continue to support Girl Scouts because they are building our female leaders of tomorrow.”
