Renew your membership by October 1 for B.I.G. opportunity!


Calling every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ to join us for our Believe in G.I.R.L. event on Saturday, October 21, at University of New Orleans. The BIG event is open to all girls, grades K - 12, registered by October 1 for the 2018 membership year. Fee to attend is $4 per girl, and includes patch. Adults are free. 

Renew your troops and memberships to participate in this big day of hands-on activities and presentations to promote organizations that foster and encourage Girl Scout involvement throughout the year. These programs focus on Girl Scout initiatives, such as STEM, Healthy Living, Financial Literacy and its Outdoor Legacy.

Girls will meet role models, explore career options, and have fun. Collaborators include: Aveda Institute New Orleans, Electric Girls, First Robotics, GSLE Wranglers, Herman-Grima Gallier Houses, Longue Vue House and Gardens, NASA, National Park Service, NOLA Code, Ochsner Medical Center Northshore, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, and many more!

This year's BIG Event Service Project will be a donation drive for our local Women and Children Shelters! Wish list items can be found here.

We are excited to annouce the keynote speaker, K. Renee Horton, Ph.D., Space Launch System (SLS) Lead Metallic/Weld Engineer in the NASA Residential Management Office at Michoud Assembly Facility. Dr. K. Renee Horton is a lifelong lover of science and NASA who received her B.S. of Electrical Engineering with a minor in Math and a Ph.D. in Material Science concentrating  in Physics, becoming the first African American to graduate from the University of Alabama in 2011.

Older Girl program track/volunteer option at B.I.G.

Girl Scout Cadettes and older can look forward to participating in special programs geared to teens including college prep talks, campus tour, and reserved spots at special presentations and activities. The fee will be waived for those who sign up directly to participate in this limited opportunity.  Volunteer shifts are at 8:30 or 10:00 a.m., and may include crowd support, check-in assistance, helping with directions, etc.
