Two National Girls & Women in Sports Day Programs available to Girl Scouts, February 3


Community partners at Dillard University and Tulane University are inviting local Girl Scouts to participate in activities at their respective campuses, celebrating the National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) on Saturday, February 3.  NGWSD is an annual day of observance that acknowledges the accomplishments of female athletes, recognizes the influence of sports participation for women and girls, and honors the progress and continuing struggle for equality for women in sports.

Have you ever wanted to work in sports? Come and learn about the different career opportunities in sports. The first half of the day will feature two interactive workshops and a question/answer session with sports industry professionals. During the second half of the day, participants will have an opportunity to go behind the scenes with Louisiana’s only female college athletic director, Dr. Kiki Baker Barnes, to get a close-up view of game day responsibilities for a college athletic director. Participants will attend the women’s basketball game and will be acknowledged at half-time.

When: Saturday, February 3, 2018
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Fee: $35 per participant (includes two meals, as well as facilitator fees, game day ticket, and swag bag.)

Tulane's Girl Scout National Girls & Women in Sports Day - Open to all girls, grades K to 8th grade

Tulane is celebrating National Girls & Women in Sports Day with Girl Scouts Louisiana East!  Join the Green Wave for a fun filled afternoon.    Activities include:
* pre-game panel at 11 a.m. with Charvi Greer, Associate Athletics Director, Academic Services; Monica LeBron, deputy athletics director, as well as members from Tulane's nutrition, sports medicine, and STEM departments.
* Girl Scout patch ceremony
* Pre-game high five line
* Group photo with Riptide
*Tulane vs South Florida women's basketball grame at 1 p.m.
* Post-game autograph session

When: Saturday, February 3, 2018
