Girl Scouts holds statewide Legislative Day in Baton Rouge

GS-LegislativeDay-530x220

Girl Scouts Louisiana East and Girl Scouts of Louisiana – Pines to the Gulf held a joint Girl Scout Legislative Day on June 4 where 27 Girl Scouts from across Louisiana spent the day meeting legislators, learning about citizen engagement and advocacy, the role of government, and much more. Our G.I.R.L.s participated in activities throughout the day including a presentation from Elizabeth Dent Sumrall with the Louisiana Center for Women in Government and Business helping them to earn the Finding Common Ground or an age equivalent Legacy: Citizen Badge.

Legislators and visitors at the state capitol enjoyed Girl Scout cookies from both councils, and Girl Scouts were recognized on the floor of the House and Senate, thanks to the efforts of Representative Julie Stokes and Senator Regina Barrow.

A photo album from the day has been uploaded to Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/GSLEcouncil/photos/?tab=album&album_id=10157540913074258
