Girl Scouts teams with Geek Squad and others to hold STEAM Summer Camp at Delgado, July 8 - 12

Do you know what you get when you add an A (arts) to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math)? STEAM! Girl Scouts Louisiana East will be holding its first STEAM summer day camp for girls, ages 9 to 14, at Delgado Community College in New Orleans, July 8 – 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Non Girl Scouts are welcome.

“STEAM incorporates all the elements of STEM, but adds art to the mix,” said Jill Pollard, Chief Program & Properties Officer at the local Girl Scout council.

Participants will spend two days in interactive workshops with the Delgado College of Automotive, Biotechnology, Sciences, LSU Health Dept. of Orthopedics, Tulane University School of Medicine, NOLA Code, Challenge Island and more. The next two days will be spent doing programming, web design, and digital music with Geek Squad Academy presenters. Friday will be spent in City Park enjoying activities in the Botanical Gardens, Sculpture Gardens, and New Orleans Museum of Art.
