It’s time to run, or walk, off those irresistible Girl Scout Cookies and join the Girl Scouts for a day of healthy living. Girl Scouts Louisiana East will host its seventh annual Thin Mint Sprint 5K and 1 Mile Daisy Dash on Saturday, April 6, at the Tammany Trace Trailhead on Koop Drive in Mandeville with post-race fun at the Caboose Kids Connection Playground. This non-competitive run is for all ages and open to the public.

“The run encourages Girl Scouts, their family and friends to get out, get moving, make healthier food choices and build self-confidence, while having fun at the same time,” said Girl Scouts Louisiana East’s Director of Major Events, STEM & Highest Awards, Kevin Shipp.

The non-competitive run allows local Girl Scouts to participate and share the organization’s Life Skills and Outdoor initiatives with the public. The initiatives are designed to encourage healthy living among girls, educate and empower them to take action to strengthen their physical and emotional health, and positively impact their communities and the world. The Daisy Dash is also the perfect opportunity for those who may not be ready for the 5K.

Participants will warm up and cool down with Nikki Cohn-Byrd of Welliance America, and participate in healthy living activities and displays with Southern Family Chiropractic, bodyART FITness, Ochsner Medical Center- North Shore, LSU School of Medicine and more. Festivities will be fueled with the fun energy pumping sounds of Got Dat Entertainment. Additionally, registered racers will receive $1 off admission to the Children's Museum of St. Tammany located across from the Thin Mint Sprint finish line.

“We encourage all ages to come have fun with us for this healthy living day party to learn more about living a healthier life and the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.”

The Thin Mint Sprint 5K and 1 Mile Daisy Dash entry fee is $10 per person if preregistered by March 15, $15 if registered after March 15, and $20 the day of the race. Registration forms can be downloaded here. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the run will start at approximately 9:10 a.m.

Current Girl Scouts will receive a patch and T-shirt if registered for either race by March 15. Racers who register after March 15 can purchase T-shirts at the race while supplies last.
