As the school year winds down, Girl Scouts is gearing up to introduce new girls to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. The next recruitment rally for girls currently in grades preK to 4th is set for Saturday, May 18, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, in the Family Life Center, rooms 110/112, 335 Asbury Dr., Mandeville.
Girls will get the opportunity to meet other girls, learn a Girl Scout song, and paint a kindness rock to brighten up their community, while their caregiver can ask questions and register their daughters in Girl Scouts. Adults interested in volunteering are encouraged to join. Participating girls will receive a fun patch.
The annual Girl Scout membership fee is $25 for both girls and adults, but now through July 30, girls can join for $35 which covers membership through September 30, 2020.
Girl Scouts practice four key leadership skills through a variety of girl-led activities and experiences grounded in Girl Scouts’ program pillars of STEM, the outdoors, life skills, and entrepreneurship. These skills are: Goal setting (Go-getter); Problem solving (Innovator); Trying new things and decision making (Risk-taker); Leading others with empathy (Leader), which spell out G.I.R.L.
