Swing into Spring - FULL

Camp Marydale
Girl Scouts of all ages (Daisy – Ambassador) are invited to bring a sack lunch and come Swing into Spring! The cost to attend is $10 per girl (Safety-Wise ratio adults $2), and the fee includes program fees and one patch per girl. Please try to limit the number of adult participants to Safety-Wise ratio and transportation needs as each adult will be taking the spot that a girl could occupy. The registration deadline is March 5 and registration is limited, so get your troop signed up now.

Dining Hall/Council Ring Area
Inside the Dining Hall, visit the Council Shop, take action with the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank drive, and discover the wonders of the universe with the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society. Enjoy arts and crafts with resident camp staff at the Craft Hut and the inflatable obstacle course near the pool! Connect with the animals at the Council Ring with BREC Blue Bonnett Swamp, and the East Baton Rouge Parish Animal Control Center. Discover recommended emergency preparedness actions with the Louisiana Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross at the Pine Bluff Lodge!
Lake/Playing Field Area
Put up you own tent with troop 40815 by the Lake Warriner! Connect with true life heroes who take action to make the world a better place while you visit the West Feliciana Parish Hospital EMS and Sherriff’s Department. Discover the importance of our wetlands with the LSU Wetland Society and make trial mix with Troop 297 and see the wonderful birds of prey from the Wildlife Hospital of Louisiana at Pioneer’s Paradise. Get moving while you play Quiditch with the LSU Quiditich Team or play volleyball or other sports at the playing field.
Archery Field/Barn Area
Create your own craft with the Kappa Alpha Theta girls at the Owl’s Roost Lodge, discover fossils and rock formations with the LSU Geology Club and pick up some healthy habits with the Office of Public Health in Owl’s Roost. Let Troop 40826 paint your face and Discover nuclear power and nuclear science with Entergy and the Louisiana Nuclear Society at the Bunkhouse. Connect with the bunnies and those who rescue them with Magic Happens Rabbit Rescue as well as tour the barn and catch one of the Girl Scout Wrangler Rodeo performances at one of these times: TBA
A few notable organizations that will be on hand with activities and presentations include BREC Bluebonnet Swamp, West Feliciana Parish Hospital, American Red Cross, DARE, Of Moving Colors, Louisiana Office of Public Health and more, as well as arts and crafts, face painting, games, and a special rodeo performance from the Girl Scout Wranglers! This year’s community service project will benefit the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, so have your troop conduct its own little drive and bring your donations to the event.
Community Service Project - Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank
The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank provides food to over 120 charitable agencies operating food pantries, group homes, shelters, meal sites and special agencies. Its mission is to feed the hungry in Baton Rouge and the surrounding parishes by providing food and educational outreach through faith based and other community partners. It serves 11 parishes: Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston,
Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. James, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana.
You can help individuals and families in need by donating non-perishable items or by hosting a food drive. The Food Bank is always in need of everyday items that you find on your pantry shelf.
