Volunteer Opportunities
There are plenty of short-term volunteer opportunities available for men and women of all ages, such as special events like day camps, cookie sale activities, and fundraisers like the Rhapsody in Green gala. Volunteers who help on annual or one-time events boost the Council's potential to serve more girls in more creative ways and to keep current membership interested in returning.
Call 504-733-8220 or 1-800-644-7571 in the New Orleans metro area or 225-927-8946 or 1-800-852-8421 in the Baton Rouge area or email info@gsle.org to volunteer.
Gala volunteers
Anyone interested in volunteering for the gala, please contact Cerise McClendon at 504-733-8220, ext. 2222 for information about how you can help.
Volunteer Program Consultants
Volunteer Program Consultants or "Green Team" help the program department with various Council-wide activities and events. Click here for more information.
Day Camp volunteers
Day Camp is a great way to spend a week during the summer, but we need volunteers since Day Camps are run entirely by volunteers! No experience is required as all training will be provided upon approval of the volunteer application.
The time you are able to volunteer might be the difference between girls in your area having a day camp to attend or not. In 2010, Girl Scouts Louisiana East only had six day camps. Check out the 2011 Summer Day Camps being offered and contact the Camp Director for your area if you have a day, a few days, or a week to volunteer for this fun summer program.
Fill out the application form here and submit it to the Council’s Program Department. Volunteers are needed to help the whole week in a variety of ways. If that is not possible, volunteer to help in any way you can. Parents are asked to sign up for the week/days/ways they can help, and parent helpers will be assigned where needed.
