Camping Skills
Camping Skills
Girl Scouts Louisiana East offer various camping and outdoor enrichment courses, so as you and the girls’ progress from camping at one of our camp properties (or approved sites) to a trip and other interest, you are properly prepared for a safe and fun experience.
Remember every troop/group must have a trained Camping Consultant who has completed all sessions of Camping Skills before planning an outing with a cookout or a camping trip. Progression is the critical component to guide girls in outdoor education — we want them to be self-sufficient with trained guidance.
Camp Prep - still in development. Email jpollard@gsle.org for a powerpoint to review.
(online e-learning at www.gsle.org) covers general camp preparation such as procedures, paperwork, how to pack, budgeting, what not to bring, etc. This e-learning session also covers meal planning and participants equipment to bring to their Basic Camping session. (45 - 50 minutes to complete).
Camp Ready - still in development. Email jpollard@gsle.org for a powerpoint to review.
(online e-learning at http://www.gsle.org) focuses on getting your troop/group ready for camping and comfortable spending the night away from home. (45 - 50 minutes to complete).
