Girl Scouts Louisiana East elects board members

The Annual Meeting of Girl Scouts Louisiana East was held on April 16 for the election of Officers and Members-at-Large to the council’s Board of Directors, as well as, members of the Board Development Committee. More than 100 delegates from the council’s 23 parish jurisdiction attended the installation and re-dedication facilitated by Myrle LeBlanc, an outgoing board member, and a former president of the legacy council, Girl Scout Council of Southeast Louisiana.

            

Board officers to serve a one-year term from 2011-2012 are Jacquelyn Daniels (Baton Rouge), president; Linda Law Clark (Baton Rouge), first vice chair; Melinda Bourgeois (Metairie), second vice chair; Robyn Merrick (Baton Rouge), secretary; and Peggy Armstrong (New Orleans), treasurer. As Chief Executive Officer, Jacqueline Alexander (LaPlace) is also a board member.

            

Members-at-Large serving a one-year term from 2011-2012 are Patricia Day (Baton Rouge), Anne LeBlanc (Norco), Ethel Madden (Metairie), Kizzy Payton (Baton Rouge), and Margie Loud Zeno (Harvey). Members-at-Large serving a two-year term from 2011-2013 are Tressa Fuller (Prairieville), Trese Taquino-Hood (Abita Springs), Lyndia Jones (New Orleans), Julie LeBlanc (New Orleans), Bradley McCoy (New Orleans), and Carolyn Morris (Baton Rouge). Members-at-Large serving a three-year term from 2011-2014 are Angela Ashner-Cage (New Orleans), Kelly Dolese (Baton Rouge), Glenna Fallin (Baton Rouge), and Veronica Osby (New Orleans).

            

Continuing Board Development Committee members serving a three-year term from 2011-2014 are Angela Ashner-Cage, chair, and Mary Marix (New Orleans).

            

The board of directors, composed of outstanding community volunteer leaders, manages the strategic affairs of the council.

            

Girl Scout’s mission is to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.
