Girl Scout alumna and news anchor Sally-Ann Roberts selected as mistress of ceremonies for Girl Scout fall luncheon

SEPTEMBER 2011

As  the Girl Scout organization nears its century mark, Girl Scouts are recognizing the 50 million Girl Scout alumnae its movement has produced, including local WWL-TV morning news anchor Sally-Ann Roberts who will serve as mistress of ceremonies at the Girl Scouts Louisiana East’s fall luncheon. The council’s annual fall fundraising luncheon is set for Thursday, November 3, from 12  to 1 p.m. at the Audubon Tea Room in New Orleans with a meet and greet at 11:30 a.m. Luncheon sponsors include Entergy, Little Brownie Bakers, and Valero St. Charles Refinery, with additional sponsors being sought.

Girl Scout alumnae, volunteers, and friends of Girl Scouting are invited to the luncheon which should provide the perfect opportunity to re-connect with Girl Scouting, and hear what Girl Scouts are currently doing in the greater New Orleans community.

“Our luncheon theme this year is ‘Renewing the Promise,’” said Cerise McClendon, Development Associate who is coordinating the luncheon. “When we became Girl Scouts, we promised to serve God and country, and to help people at all times. As we prepare for our 100th anniversary next year, it’s an appropriate time to renew our promise to helping others and hopefully to Girl Scouting.”

According to McClendon, table captains who invite and host a table of their friends at the luncheon are needed, as well as additional corporate sponsors. The actual luncheon itself is free to attend, with a suggested minimum donation of $50.

For more information about becoming a table captain, a corporate sponsor, or to receive an invitation to the luncheon, call McClendon at 504-733-8220 or 800-644-7571, ext. 2222.
