Girl Scouts invites community leaders to Beyond Bars program meeting, May 16
Girl Scouts invites community leaders, policy leaders, faith-based representatives, child/family advocates, and educators to join them for an initial Girl Scouts Beyond Bars program meeting on Thursday, May 16, from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. at Girl Scouts Louisiana East headquarters, 841 S. Clearview Parkway, Jefferson. The focus of the Girl Scouts Beyond Bars program is to help re-establish family bonds between daughters and their incarcerated mothers and to teach leadership, healthy living, and financial literacy skills to both parties, ultimately helping the mothers after their incarceration, and subsequently reducing the recidivism rate.
Girl Scouts Louisiana East hopes to pilot the program in 2013-2014 in the greater New Orleans area, but needs collaborative partners. To RSVP for the May 16 meeting or for additional information, please contact Dianne Rose at firstname.lastname@example.org or 504-355-5890 or Jill Pollard at email@example.com or 504-355-5871. If you cannot make the meeting, please consider sending a designee or an associate.
