Metairie Girl Scouts accepting registrations for day camp this summer
Girl Scouts, as well as girls new to Scouting, in Metairie and the surrounding area will enjoy a fun-filled day camp this summer when they sign up for Camp Aspire, the newest volunteer-led day camp being offered in the Girl Scouts Louisiana East council. The day camp is open to all girls entering kindergarten through 7th grade, with girls entering 8th – 12th grade assisting as program aides. The day camp will be held Tuesday, July 16-Thursday, July 18, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Grace King High School’s gymnasium, 4301 Grace King Place in Metairie.
Activities during the three-day camp revolve around the Girl Scout “It’s Your Planet – Love it!” journey in which girls have an opportunity to learn about environmental issues such as clean water and air, noise pollution, global warming, soil contamination, and agricultural processes. They will also learn fun games and silly songs, favorite activities of Girl Scouts everywhere.
Cost to attend is $30 per registered Girl Scout; $42 for girls new to Girl Scouting, which includes the annual membership fee; and $10 per Girl Scout Program Aide. Registration forms can be found at www.gsle.org/camping/daycamps13.asp For more information, contact volunteer day camp director Mimi Delaune at 504-417-5443 or email@example.com.
