Catholic Committee on Girl Scouting re-forming in New Orleans; first meeting is October 20
OCTOBER 2012
The Catholic Committee on Girl Scouting (CCOGS) in the Archdiocese of New Orleans, a group which has been dormant since Hurricane Katrina, is re-forming under the direction of the CYO/Youth & Young Adult Ministry. The committee’s main purpose and function is to oversee the Catholic religious recognition program for Girl Scouts in the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
Their inaugural meeting is Saturday, October 20, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in St. Rita Parish (Msgr. Champagne Center), 7100 Jefferson Hwy, corner of Raven Street, Harahan. The meeting will include a presentation by the new Catholic Committee on Girl Scouting, religious recognition counselor training, and, for those that need it, an archdiocesan safe environment training at the end. It is very important that at least one adult representative from each Catholic parish/school having Girl Scouts be present on October 20.
Please confirm your attendance by emailing girlscouts@arch-no.org or calling Cecilia Matherne in their office at 504-227-3221. If you have any questions, you may contact John Smestad, Jr. CYO Director at 504-227-3223 (direct line.)
