Become a Girl Scout Smart Cookie!
NOVEMBER 2011
Girl Scouts Louisiana East invites Girl Scout Juniors and Cadettes to join Smart Cookie University as a part of “the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to help girls discover, take action and connect.”
On Saturday, January 7, for 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Southeastern Louisiana University, in its University Center in Hammond, Girl Scouts will have an opportunity to become “Smart Cookies” by working one-on-one with successful marketers from Little Brownie Bakers and Southeastern Louisiana University’s marketing professors. Registration is $5 per girl which covers materials, lunch and themed t-shirts; deadline is December 2.
Underwritten by a grant from the Credit Union of Baton Rouge, and administered through the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, Smart Cookie U provides an avenue where girls can boost their confidence in developing entrepreneurship skills, financial literacy, and high self-esteem. The girls will learn different ways they can enhance their cookie businesses through learning how to decorate their booths, set achievable goals, and acquire top-notch customer service skills.
This year’s theme of What Can a Cookie Do – More than You See encourages girls to use their cookie money to lead Take Action projects that will continue to impact their community long after cookie season is over. Also, girls will earn badges for Financial Literacy and Cookie Business in the areas of: Business Owner, Cookie CEO, Budgeting, Consumer Insights, Budgeting, Business Plan, Marketing, and Think Big.
Girl Scouts will begin taking cookie orders on Friday, January 20. Cookies are $3.50 per box upon delivery, and are preservative-free, kosher, with zero trans-fat per serving. Cookies will be sold at various booth locations throughout the 23 parishes served by the council March 2 – 18. Both a mobile app and an online Cookie Locator to booth locations will be available during the sale.
So come out and walk away from this fun-filled event with your own marketing kit, t-shirt and diploma. Space is limited so sign up today! Girl Scout Junior max: 100 girls; Girl Scout Cadette max: 50 girls.
