GSLE Extravaganza is October 12
Make History and be a part of Girl Scout Louisiana East's Extravaganza on Sunday, October 12, at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center, as we celebrate the birth of our new Council! Make New Friends as we gather together - 23 parishes strong - and learn of the many activities and fun events on store for 2008-2009. You and your troop will get a sneak peak at upcoming Program Power activities, while participating in other hands-on and interactive activities throughout the day.
For more information and how to register for this free event or to volunteer to help, visit the council website at www.gsle.org/events/extravaganza.asp. See you there!

Troop Appreciation Awards for the campaign are listed on the council website. Girls also directly benefit from their family's generosity. Even though the suggested gift is $150 per family, a girl will receive a patch if her family contributes $75 or more. For additional information about the Annual Family Giving Campaign, please contact Carrie Thomas at (504) 733-8220, ext. 245.
The Every Girl, Everywhere luncheon is Wednesday, November 12 in New Orleans, and table captains are needed! A table captain hosts a table made up of their friends, family, and co-workers as the council shares about Girl Scouting through testimonials and other presentations. This fundraising luncheon is free, although gifts and pledges are solicited. To volunteer as a table captain or for additional information, please contact Cerise McClendon at (504) 733-8220, ext. 222.

The Fall Product Sale of nuts, candies, address booklets and magazines is set for September 13-October 5. All orders are pre-paid and there are no booth sales. The troop earns $1 for every item sold, $2 for every address booklet (only one per girl) completed, and $2 for every magazine sold. Girls deliver the orders in November, and since the money is pre-collected, the troop receives their proceeds immediately.
Girls must be registered by September 1 for the new membership year in order to participate in the sale. The sale is for all age levels including Girl Scout Daisies.
Calling all "Fashion Divas"
The program department is looking for girl and adult volunteers to be models for the fashion show at the GSLE Extravaganza on October 12. You will be modeling the new uniform and casual pieces that are being offered in the council shops and the GSUSA catalog. So, if you have style and grace and definitely not camera shy, contact Yvette Hairston at yhairston@gsle.org to volunteer today.
