Girls are invited to enjoy a sampling of Girl Scout activities during a free Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Girl Scouts Louisiana East regional program center, 545 Colonial Drive, Baton Rouge.
Activities include fun fitness and healthy eating, gardening, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) experiments, interacting with animals, and meeting current Girl Scout members. Each participant will receive a “passport” as she moves from one activity station to the next, and a certificate of completion after receiving all activity stamps.
“A Girl Scout learns, by participating in ‘journeys’ with her troop, to love our planet, change our world for the better, and tell her story,” said Stephanie Hull, one of the event coordinators.
According to Hull, Girl Scouts develop leadership skills as they discover new interests, connect with others, and take action on issues that are important to them. Membership is $15 per year for girls and adults, making it a positive and affordable option for today’s busy families. Some favorite areas of interest for girls and adults include camping, health and fitness, the arts, science and technology, travel, cookie-selling, and much more. More information about the Girl Scout Leadership Experience is available by clicking here and girls may register to become Girl Scouts at the event. Adult volunteers are also needed.
No registration for attending the Back to School bash is required. For more information, please contact Kelly Daniels, Volunteer Support Coordinator, at 225-927-8946 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
