To Get Her There Day 2013

To Get Her There Day - Thursday, April 25, 2013

The well-known “Take Our Daughters (and Sons) to Work Day" is April 25, which Girl Scouts Louisiana East has morphed into a career shadowing program as part of their To Get Her There initiative.  On Thursday, a couple of local Girl Scouts in grades 4-12 will partner with career professionals, spending the day learning about the career they are interested in and the steps it took to obtain that professional position.

From following in the steps of a New Orleans TV news anchor to finding out what it’s like in the day of a veterinarian, girls will get a glimpse of their selected career and experience hands-on what the job entails! Other careers include law, marine biology, and engineering, and theater.

While several of the career partnerings are taking place on April 25, a few will be held later in May and June.

To Get Her There is Girl Scouts of the USA’s advocacy and fundraising cause campaign dedicated to girls’ leadership issues. The purpose of this multiyear effort is to help break down societal barriers that hinder girls from leading and achieving success in everything from technology and science to business and industry.
