Basic Camping is an in-person-overnight-session, at a council camp. Course topics include health and safety considerations for camping with groups, group dynamics in the out-of-doors, progression, program and environmental activities, outdoor skills (including safety, fire building, outdoor cooking methods, cleaning and care of campsites, etc.) and minimal impact camping. Preregistration is required! Must renew every 5 years-retake this course OR complete Advance Camp Training.

Fee: $30: (covers Saturday lunch, dinner, and Sunday breakfast) Fee is fully reimbursable from troop funds.

Prerequisites: Girl Scouting 101 (online), Camp Prep (PowerPoint) and Camp Ready (PowerPoint). These will be sent to participants two weeks prior to the session.
Note: Basic Camping facilitators will not approve participant's completion of session if the participant does not follow the safety guidelines and/or has not retained the information.
