Girl Scouts are called to be activists and what better way to be advocates by participating in Earth Day activities. Earth Day is held in April of every year. Instead of one day GSLE wants to celebrate Earth Day the whole month of April 2023. We will do this with funding from Entergy.
All Girl Scouts are asked to take the GSLE Sustainability Bingo Challenge April 1-30. SPRING into action as you work on your total wellness by strengthening your physical, mental, and environmental health. Explore different ways to reduce your carbon footprint, make healthy choices, and win by playing GSLE Sustainability Bingo! Cross off the boxes as you complete them. Daisies with your parents complete 5 in a row. Brownies with your parents complete 5 in a row and two corners (it okay if your 5 in a row include a corner). Juniors complete 5 in a row vertically and 5 in a row horizontally. Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors complete 3 full rows (either 2 vertically and 1 horizontally or 1 vertically and 2 horizontally)
Juniors and above can take the challenge further by choose a specific conservation area to be proactive about. Want to focus on awareness of planting Louisiana native plants or controlling invasive plants, ways to protect Louisiana native animals that populations are in the decline or controlling invasive animals, there are so many areas to focus on. It could be Louisiana Wildlife Diversity, Louisiana Biologist initiatives, Louisiana Botany/Natural studies, Louisiana Herpetology, Marine analyses, or Avian research. Any troops or individual Girl Scouts that participate in these activities will earn a fun patch by turning in this form by May 5, 2023.
