Basic Camp Training is a face-to-face session at a Council camp. Course topics include health and safety considerations for camping with groups, group dynamics in the out-of-doors, progression, program and environmental activities, outdoor skills (including safety, fire building, outdoor cooking methods, knife skills, cleaning and care of campsites, etc.), and minimal impact camping. Preregistration is required!
Prerequisites: Registered and background checked volunteers, with Leadership Training preferred.
Fee: $25; includes meals for the training session. Fee is fully reimbursable from troop funds.
Capacity: Minimum 5/Maximum 20
*Basic Camp Training facilitators will not approve participant’s completion of session if the participant does not follow the safety guidelines, completes the entire training time period and/or has not retained the information.
