Open to girls, grades 6-12, registered adults

Join your Girl Scout sisters for beachfront camping at Grand Isle State Park! All Girl Scouts 6th through 12th grade are invited to participate in this overnight trip with the council's Trailblazer & Mariner troops.
Together, we'll explore the coastline of "Louisiana's Riviera" and discover the area's beautiful flora, fauna, and sea life. We'll also develop our primitive camping know-how and practice other skills like water safety, outdoor cooking, water purification techniques, survival first aid, and knot tying.
Girl Scouts can apply activities completed for this trip toward earning badges at their level: Eco Trekker & Primitive Camper (Cadette), Eco Explorer & Adventure Camper (Senior), Eco Advocate & Survival Camper (Ambassador). There will be an optional virtual planning session prior to the event to collect girl input on the activities and satisfy some badge requirements.
This event is for registered Girl Scouts only. Adults must have a current GSLE sponsored background check as well as being current registered Girl Scouts.
Things to know before you register:

  • All participants are responsible for paying the toll for their vehicle to cross the bridge onto Grand Isle ($4.50 for 2-axle vehicles).
  • If girls are attending as a troop, one background checked adult volunteer must also register and attend. If a girl is not attending with her Troop contact Tracy Yoes at tyoes@gsle.org before registering her. She will need to be dropped off and picked up by a designated adult.
  • Tents are required. The council has tents available to borrow on a first-come, first served basis. Girls and adults will sleep in separate tents. Your troop may be asked to share tents with participants from other troops. Please contact Tracy Yoes (tyoes@gsle.org) for more information.
  • Participants who want to fish will need to provide their own gear and bait and have a current Louisiana fishing license. GSLE has some fishing poles on that can be used. Contact (tyoes@gsle.org) for more information.
