Open to girls, grades 6-12, adults (girls entering 6th grade in the fall)
Starting this July, we will have Trailblazer/Mariner events scheduled every month. We will alternate locations across all four GSLE regions. That way, girls can share their region's beloved spots with other troops across our council area as well as explore the places their GSLE girl scout sisters call home. Activities will include hiking, kayaking, team-building exercises, exploring Louisiana's cultural treasures and natural wonders, and more.
On Sunday, July 5th, Cadettes though Ambassador are invited to
Region 1's, West Feliciana Sports Park. We will be hiking and
exploring. You can look in the All-Trails app to see info about the
hike. It has a 5.6-mile loop trail. We can do the whole trail or
portions of it. The hiking difficulty is listed as moderate. We hope
to stop at places where the creek can be accessed and explored. Girls
are encouraged to bring their smart phone or cameras to take nature
pictures.
We will have a picnic lunch at the end of the morning,
so bring your brown bag lunch and drink (along with your backpack
filled with sunblock, bug spray, hat, sunglasses etc.). There is no
cost to attend this event, but you are encouraged to bring a healthy
snack to share.
There is potential to complete steps from the following badges:
- Cadettes: Eco Trekker, Trail Adventure, & Trees
- Seniors: Eco Explorer, Trail Adventure, & Sky
- Ambassador: Eco Advocate, Trail Adventure, & Water
- Also, we can complete some of the steps for the 2025 Girl Scouts Love the Outdoors Challenge patch!

Where are Trailblazers/Mariners headed next:
- August (GSLE Region 2) - We have reached out to troop leaders in St. Charles parish for suggestions and to help with hosting.
- September (GSLE Region 3) - GSLE will celebrate Girl Scouts Love State Parks in all four regions, but Trailblazers and Mariners will facilitate activities at Bogue Chitto State Park.
- October (GSLE Regions 4) - We're exploring the possibility of a camp out at Grand Isle State Park! Thanks to Troop 40199 for offering to help with this event.
