National Council Session
The National Council Session/57th Convention of Girl Scouts of the USA will be held July 20-26, 2026, in Washington, DC.
Girl Scouts Louisiana East is eligible to send between six and eight voting delegates (adult and girl members, 14 years old and older) including our CEO and Board Chair. The number of voting delegates is based on our current membership.
If you are interested in serving as a Delegate, please understand the need to take the responsibility of being a Delegate seriously. The priority of this position is to attend all voting sessions and represent our Council.

What happens at National Council Session?
Elect the National Board of Directors and National Board Development Committee.
Act on proposals and amend the constitution.
Establish requirements for credentials.
Influence the strategic direction of the Movement by providing guidance to the National Board.

It is vital that Girl Scouts Lousiana East is represented at the 57th National Council Session of the GIrl Scouts of the USA, as it ensures your Girl Scouts’ voices are heard – both volunteers' and girls'. Delegates are our Council's direct link to the National Board of Directors and they have the opportunity to influence the strategic direction of the Movement through the election of National Board Directors and Officers and National Board Development Committee. In addition, the Delegates consider, discuss, and vote on proposals or changes to our constitution.
Being a Delegate does not only benefit GSLE and our Girl Scout Movement, but you as well. This leadership position is a wonderful way to build your resume and develop skills that will benefit you in other areas of your life.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Delegate, your responsibilities before NCS are:
- Engage in Delegate trainings, both from GSLE and GSUSA
- Study the topics of discussion
- Reflect to consider the broad spectrum of opionions of adult and girl members from all parts of the council.
While at NCS, Delegates will:
- Attend all applicable business meetings
- Engage in opportunities to discuss, learn, and share ideas across the Movement
- Participate fully in the proceedings by voting
Following NCS, each Delegate will be prepared to:
- Report at GSLE's Annual Meeting to the Council Board of Directors and the Council’s constituency (if requested by council board chair/president and CEO) on the National Council Session decisions and the reasons for such decisions.
- Share insights on information gained at the National Council Session, if requested.
- Assist the council as it prepares to participate in the next National Council Session, if requested.
- Participate in teleconferences/webinars and other opportunities for voting members/Delegates.
SERVING AS A NATIONAL COUNCIL DELEGATE
If you are interested in serving as a Delegate, please understand
the need to take the responsibility of being a Delegate seriously. The
priority of this position is to attend all voting sessions and
represent our Council. There will be opportunities to visit Disney
World and other theme parks through Girl Scouts after the National
Council Session.

The BNDC Committee will review applications, interview candidates, and select our slate of National Council Delegates and Alternate Delegates. The final slate of National Council Delegates will be elected at the Annual Meeting in January 2025. If you are selected to be interviewed, interviews will be conducted in December 2024.
