Open to all age levels and adults

We would like to invite our Girl Scout sisters, and family members to join the Trailblazer/Mariner Girl Scouts January 17, 2026, to honor Martin Luther King. Jr. in doing community service while working on their Environmental Ecology badges. We will be volunteering at Tickfaw State Park's by doing trail maintenance (focusing on keeping the path clear, safe, and well-drained by managing vegetation, removing hazards like rocks/branches, and ensuring user safety through proper tool use and awareness of surroundings).

Daisy, Brownies, and Juniors are encouraged to use grabbers (we will have a few on hand or they can bring their own - Dollar Tree has them for under $2) to pick up trash. Also, we hope they help 'scout' areas that the older Girl Scouts and adult volunteers can work on.

Leaders and parents can also review badge requirements ahead of time and help their scouts plan to complete steps toward earning the Daisy Eco Learner, Brownie Eco Friend or Junior Eco Camper badge* (*not all steps will be covered). Daisys, Brownies, and Juniors will need a designated adult to attend the event with them, this is not a drop off event.

Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors, and GSLE volunteers will be trained on what and how to do trail maintenance. Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassador Girl Scouts can also review badge requirements ahead of time and plan to complete steps toward earning Cadette Eco Trekker, Senior Eco Explorer, or Ambassador Eco Advocate badge.

All registered participants will receive a fun patch for attending Saturday.

Tentative Schedule: Saturday

  • 10 am - 12 pm--trail maintenance
  • 12 pm - 1 pm-- Make New Friends Picnic (bring your own picnic lunch)
  • 1 pm - 3 pm-- trail maintenance

Please note: Cadettes, Senior, Ambassadors, and Adult Volunteers have the opportunity to expand their weekend by signing up for tenting camping at Tickfaw January 17-19. See the GSLE Calendar for more info and to sign up.
