This summer, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries' Geaux Play Outdoors program is hosting three special geocaches on public land.
Join up with other CSA Girl Scouts (6th grade or up for 2026-2027 school year) to find the geocache hidden at Bogue Chitto WMA, then continue the fun looking for more geocaches at Bogue Chitto State Park. Bring your own lunch and picnic at the park! You must provide your own transportation to and from each location.
Schedule (may be adjusted throughout the day depending on how long activities take)
- 9:30 a.m. - Meet at Bogue Chitto Wildlife Management Area
- 10:10 a.m. - Leave for Bogue Chitto State Park
- 10:30 a.m. - Arrive at Bogue Chitto State Park
- 12:00 p.m. - Picnic at the playground
Optional On-Your-Own afternoon opportunities:
- Want to geocache all day? Search for up to a dozen geocaches in the Franklinton area.
- Enjoy the perks of your state park! Hike to Fricke's Cave, cool off in the splash pad, birdwatch, play disc golf, ride the NORBA bike trails, or schedule a horseback ride or kayaking adventure.
There is no cost to register for this event, but please complete the registration form so you will receive important details via email prior to the event. Activities will be canceled in the case of inclement weather.
Note: While the activity is free, there are costs associated with entering Louisiana WMAs and state parks.

Adults 18+ must purchase a 5-day WMA Access Permit ($5) or an
Annual WMA Access Permit ($20) or have a current Louisiana Sportsman's
Paradise License, Senior Hunting/Fishing License, or Lifetime License.
